Toronto, ON – November 11, 2025 – NLPatent, the AI-driven patent research engine and intelligence platform today announced the close of a $3M investment round. The financing was co-led by Silicon Valley funds Draper Associates and Mighty Capital, with participation from The LegalTech Fund, Storytime Capital, and The51 in Toronto.
The funding will accelerate product development, fuel go-to-market expansion across North America and Europe, and support the company’s mission to deliver more accurate, actionable patent intelligence that helps IP and R&D teams make better, faster decisions.
NLPatent’s platform includes modules for Searching, Monitoring, and Visualizing patent data, enabling users to surface critical patents faster, track emerging technologies, and uncover innovation trends. The company’s LLM-powered search engine is already trusted by leading law firms, Fortune 500 enterprises, and universities to support patentability searches, market analysis, claim drafting, litigation preparation, and infringement risk assessment. Over the past four years, NLPatent has established itself as a market leader, reaching this position with minimal outside capital and a focus on sustainable, disciplined growth.
“At NLPatent, we’re building more than a research tool; we're redefining how routine patent work gets done,” said Stephanie Curcio, Co-Founder & CEO of NLPatent. “Our vision is an agentic platform that goes beyond supporting patent workflows to completing them. Today, professionals are leveraging a variety of point solutions to complete tasks; tomorrow, they’ll expect intelligent systems that act like a skilled colleague, asking smart follow-up questions, running targeted searches, landscaping the competition, and delivering finished work product. Because patent research is foundational to every downstream task, owning this layer uniquely positions us to power the agentic future of IP.”
With this financing, NLPatent plans to deepen its presence with law firms and corporate IP departments globally while expanding its product roadmap. The team’s focus will remain on building a reliable, enterprise-grade platform that reduces friction in patent workflows, complements existing processes, and unlocks measurable ROI for clients. By continuing to invest in both product development and customer success, NLPatent aims to set the standard for how AI can responsibly support and ultimately transform intellectual property strategy.
“Innovation drives progress, but patents keep the engine running.” Said James Walker, Principal at Draper Associates. “NLPatent sits at the intersection of these two forces as they revolutionize the way we interact with intellectual property through best-in-class research and intelligence. We are thrilled to be partners with Stephanie, James and the rest of the team.”
Building on this sentiment, other investors highlighted NLPatent’s ability to combine deep domain expertise with cutting-edge technology to shape the future of patent intelligence and workflow automation.
“At Mighty Capital, we invest in companies that not only have extraordinary technology but also the ability to define the future of their industry,” said Jennifer Vancini, General Partner at Mighty Capital. “NLPatent’s bold vision for the agentic future of patent workflows makes them an exceptional partner for us. We’re excited to support their next stage of scale.”
NLPatent is actively hiring across engineering, product, and go-to-market functions to support this next phase of growth. To learn more about their platform and open roles, visit www.nlpatent.com/careers.
